Besides faster performance and newer software, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to bring major camera changes and battery life improvements. However, if you are planning to upgrade to a Galaxy S27 series phone, we may have some bad news.
Galaxy S27 phones could cost more
According to Lanzuk, a tipster from South Korea, Samsung plans to increase the price of the entire Galaxy S27 series compared to this year's lineup. The tipster claims that all models in the Galaxy S27 family could see a price hike of around 130,000 KRW (approximately $100) over their predecessors.
And the bad news does not stop there. The South Korean tech giant will reportedly charge even more for storage upgrades. Currently, moving from the 256GB to the 512GB version of the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ costs an additional $200. For the Galaxy S27 series, the premium for extra storage is expected to be even steeper (likely ~$100 more).
It remains unclear whether this price hike will apply globally or only in Samsung's home country. Still, we expect the increase to affect most international markets, given the ongoing “RAMageddon” memory supply crisis. Click here to read more about why RAM and storage chip prices are increasing.
The tipster also notes that Samsung will introduce LPDDR6 RAM to select models in the Galaxy S27 series, meaning the memory specifications will be split across the lineup. Only the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature LPDDR6 RAM alongside UFS 5.0 storage.
